The Oriental Insurance Co.Ltd. has been adjudged as "Best
General Insurance - Public" in the CNBC TV18 Best Bank and Financial
Institution Awards presented by MCX for FY11. This is the first
edition of the CNBC-TV18's India Best Bank and Financial institution
Awards, presented by MCX. Given the rigorous selection process, the
eminent jury and the caliber of winners, the awards will become a benchmark
for excellence in the field of banking and finance in the country.
The distinction has been accorded by a distinguish panel of jurors that
included the following eminent personalities:
1. Dr Rakesh Mohan, Professor in the Practice of International
Economics
of Finance, School of Management, & Senior Fellow, Yale University
and also the Former Deputy Governor at the RBI,
2. Mr. A.K. Purwar, Chairman of IndiaVehture
Advisors Pvt. Ltd & Former
Chairman of State Bank of India,
3. Mr. S. Narayan, Former Economic Advisor
to PMO and
4. Mr. Jagdish Capoor , Former Dy. Governor
of RBI & Former Chairman
of HDFC Bank and BSE.
The jury round was preceded by a robust and rigorous scoring
process designed by KPMG. The KPMG team scored all banks and financial
institutions on criteria like growth, profitability, capital ratios
and even softer qualities like investor/customer ;eare and compiled
a short list. In the second stage the short-listed companies were examined
by the jurors who then vigorously debated the various nominations before
coming to a unanimous conclusion on each category.
Our CMD Dr. R. K. Kaul received this award, on behalf
of the Company, from the Hon'ble Union Cabinet Minister for Corporate
Affairs, Shri. Veerappa Moily on 12th September 2011
at Mumbai.
